Criminal District Court #1 was established by the Texas Legislature on June 19, 1917. In its history, there have been seven judges who have presided over CDC1.
Like all ten of the criminal district courts in Tarrant County, CDC1 has jurisdiction over felony criminal cases and misdemeanors. However, the vast majority of criminal cases that make their way through CDC1 are felonies. Judges who preside over the criminal district courts in Tarrant County serve four year terms.
